As part of the support from the TAIEX instrument, the National Agency for Cannabis Control (AKKC), together with representatives from Albanian institutions involved in the implementation of Law No. 61/2023, held an official meeting with INFARMED – the National Authority for Medicines and Health Products of Portugal.

During this meeting, AKKC became closely acquainted with the Portuguese model for regulating and overseeing activities related to cannabis for medical and industrial purposes, including licensing, inspection, and ensuring compliance with European Union standards (GACP, GMP, GDP).

The central role of INFARMED in granting authorizations and certifications for the relevant activities was particularly appreciated, aiming to ensure good practices throughout the entire production chain, as well as its close cooperation with security structures to prevent abuses and guarantee the implementation of the national and international legal framework.

This meeting, which paves the way for strengthening technical and institutional cooperation between Albanian and Portuguese authorities, represents a very valuable experience for AKKC, offering a reference model for the drafting and improvement of the national legal framework in the field of licensing, control, and inspection.
