On June 9, 2025, a representative from the National Agency for Cannabis Control (NACC) conducted a study visit to the Colorado State Public Health Laboratory in Denver, USA.
During the visit, NACC staff observed the full laboratory workflow, including advanced techniques for microbiological analysis of cannabis plants. Laboratory experts demonstrated the processes used for sample preparation, contamination detection through molecular and biological methods, and the interpretation of analytical results. Particular attention was given to how these results are reported and how traceability and quality are ensured at every stage of the process.
The NACC team actively participated in discussion and observation sessions that covered topics such as quality assurance, equipment calibration, and challenges in harmonizing methodologies between public and private laboratories. The importance of standardized protocols in accordance with ISO requirements for cannabis product testing was strongly emphasized.
This visit represents a significant step toward building NACC’s internal technical capacities and brings first-hand laboratory experience that will support the development of a reliable and transparent public testing system in Albania. Alignment with international practices is not only a regulatory necessity but also a guarantee of the safety and quality of cannabis products.
