On May 20, 2025, the National Agency for Cannabis Control (NACC), with the support of the European Union’s TAIEX instrument, held an official meeting with the European Drugs Agency (EUDA) in Lisbon. The Albanian delegation also included representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Ministry of the Interior, and the State Police.

During the meeting, EUDA leaders recognized Albania as a strategic partner in the region and reaffirmed their support for non-EU countries in strengthening technical and institutional capacities.

The General Director of the National Cannabis Control Agency, Mrs. Linda Pustina, the Director General of NACC, presented the institutional vision for monitoring and controlling the sector through advanced technologies, aiming to ensure efficient oversight that guarantees compliance with the regulatory framework and prevents deviations or abuses in the sector. She emphasized the institution’s commitment to developing projects involving the use of drones, multispectral cameras, and other innovative equipment for field inspections. This approach was highly appreciated by EUDA, which expressed its readiness to support the project, either as a direct partner or through institutional assistance.

The meeting concluded with a joint assessment of the strategic importance of the Albania–EUDA cooperation, aimed at fulfilling European standards in drug control, strengthening the National Drug Observatory, and integrating Albania into European networks such as the Early Warning System (NEWS).
